Hyderabad: Former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is considering the name of the party and former IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar as the BRS party’s MLA quota MLC candidate. The nomination process for the MLC elections will end on Monday. KCR is likely finalise the candidate before the deadline for the submission of the nomination papers. Former minister Satyavati Rathod is also in the race along with RS Praveen Kumar. Another former minister Jogu Ramanna , Former MLA Boodida Bikshamayya Goud and the party leader Dasoju Shravan are also in the race for the MLC lost under BC quota.

BRS party’s MLC candidates will file their nomination papers on Monday. It has decided to contest the MLA quota MLC elections. The BRS will contest on two seats in these elections. The BRS chief KCR has given directions to the party leaders on this issue. Given the strength of the MLAs, the BRS party is likely to win only one seat in the MLA quota MLC elections. However, the party chief strategically decided to field two party candidates. The BRS has 38 members in the Assembly, including the 10 MLAs who have defected to the ruling congress party.

Will the rebel MLAs now support the ruling Congress party Or will they vote for the BRS party now ? There are differences of opinion in political circles on this issue. On the other hand, a petition filed by the BRS party seeking the disqualification of the rebel MLAs is pending in the Supreme Court of India . In this context, there is uncertainty over the decision the turncoat MLAs will take in the MLC elections. The decision of KCR to field the party candidates in two MLC seats in the TRS MLA quota MLC elections assumes significance in this sequence.
